‘GLOBAL COMMUNICATOR’ MAGAZINE CELEBRATES RELAUNCH WITH CURATED PLAYLIST FOR MULTIPLE MUSIC PLATFORMS
Coloan’s Brennan Williams Culls Tunes Handpicked by Featured Communications Professionals for Your Listening Pleasure
(New York, NY) – To celebrate this month’s relaunch of Global Communicator, the e-publication team has engaged Brennan Williams, producer and founder of Coloan Records, to create specially curated playlists for readers’ enjoyment. With tunes handpicked by the magazine’s featured communications professionals, this inspirational collection of R&B, urban contemporary, gospel, pop, hip-hop, and jazz favorites is the perfect soundtrack for celebrating the wisdom that comes with success, the strength of the human spirit, and the power of love. The Global Communicator Playlist is available now on YouTube, Apple, and Spotify.
“Every hero/shero has a theme song,” says Gwendolyn Quinn, the Chief Content Officer of Global Communicator. “For this project, it was Brennan’s idea to develop a playlist around each issue. Brennan is a fantastic music producer, and he is excellent at curating and sequencing these theme projects. We asked each interviewee to include five songs that influence their career journey. As the writer for the premiere issue, I also included five songs. I love this playlist.”
Contributors to the playlist are Staci Hallmon, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BET Live and the BET Experience; Candace Sandy, a prominent political and communications crisis strategist; Donna Walker-Kuhne, the founder and President of Walker International Communications Group; Bil Carpenter, the co-founder of Capital Entertainment; and Deborah Byrd, founder and CEO of AK Blackbyrd Productions.
Featured on these special sonic journeys are such enduring favorites as Mary J. Blige’s self-esteem anthem “Just Fine,” Janet Jackson’s playful “Alright,” Stevie Wonder’s ebullient love letter “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” Quincy Jones’ all-star hip-hop manifesto “Back on The Block,” Kirk Franklin’s thrilling gospel roof-raiser “Brighter Day,” Ashley Dubose’s empowerment declaration “Be You,” the Ohio Players’ seminal funk classic “Fire,” and retro-soul star Bruno Mars’ global smash “24K Magic.”
The collection continues with old school favorites such as Edwin Hawkins’ gospel standard “Oh Happy Day,” Lionel Richie and The Commodores’ soulful affirmation “Jesus is Love,” Brazilian composer Sergio Mendes’ version of “One Note Samba,” country star Lee Ann Womack’s inspirational “I Hope You Dance,” the late jazz sensation Shirley Horn’s philosophical “Here’s To Life,” as well as much-loved tunes by Cher, Barbra Streisand, Richard Marx, Tina Turner, Bette Midler, and even 1950s teen idol Ricky Nelson.
Producer Brennan gave each platform its unique flavor, with the Apple and Spotify lists also including songs by India.Arie, George Benson, Donny Hathaway, Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, and LaBelle. “On the YouTube playlist, Brennan incorporated live performances to give it a unique visual experience,” explains Quinn.
Coloan previously partnered with Quinn, with Brennan creating a unique playlist for her influential 2017 HuffPost series, “The Top 25 African American PR Millennials.”
