2012 Grammys LIVE

buzzz worthy. . .
Each year the Grammys strives to be more memorable than the last.  With the death of one of music's icons, Whitney Houston falling on the eve of tonight's show, the 2012 Grammys will be indeed unforgettable.  Adele, Chris BrownWe're here to post commentary on every special moment, including a special tribute to Houston.

8:00 p.m. - Opening the show, Bruce Springsteen adn the E. Street Band rock "We Take car eof Our Own,"  an anthem about Americans thriving together. (Does this guy age?)  The camera causght Sir Paul McCatey enjoying every minute of it.

8:05 - Host LL Cool J.  "There is no way aroung this, we've had a death on our family, for me the only thing that feels right is to being with a prayer for our siter Witney.  He them pulled out a prayer he wrote and reas it as the audience bowed.  The video of Whiteney performing on The Grammys was played and the audience responded with a respectful standing ovation.  The atmosphere is somber.

As he moved on to change the mood and get the show started he wlcomed Adele back, who will be a performing tonight.  "We're gonna go on becasue this ngiht is about something universal. . .this night is about music.. . ."
8:25 - Chris Brown is performing "Turn Up the Music. The crowd is hooked as he flies, glides and pops across stacks of cubes. His body is perculating with sharp moves in a surreal fashion. If there were a category for best dancer at the Grammys, he'd win based on this acrobatic display.

8:35 - Marc Anthony and Fergie present the award for Best Rap Performacne which goes to Jay Z and Kanye West for "Otis." Neither was there to accept.  Things that make you go hummmm.  You'd think one fo them woudl show to possible pick up the prize for such an acclaimed project. BTW, Fergie wore are bright orange full length dress with black undies that might have looked nicer if she wore some flesh colored/nude under it.

Jason Aldane and Kelly Clarkson perform the first collaboration of the evening asking "Don't You Wanna Stay." They sound good together but look somewhat uncomfortable performing togther.

Coming up, Rihanna will be joing the  stage with Cold Play.  I can't imagine sparks not flying with this one. .

8:45 - Multple Grammy winners Dave Grohl  and the Foos (Foo Fighters) are blazing it up for fans outsie of the Staples Center.  Maroon 5 and Foster the People will be doing the tibute to the Beach Boys.  Y

8:56  -  Rihanna is sporting a new blonde look that's  a little Tina Turner-esque. The four-time Gramy  and a stage fiull of dancers performed with island flair a full song, then she joined Cold  Play. For a  minute there I  thought the moment was cancelled or she was getting a little more love than Cold Play.  But they performed alone as well.

9:14 - And the Grammy award for Best Rock Performance goes to the Foo Fighter for "Walk." They said they made the song in their garage with a tape machine.

9: 17 - Ryan Seacrest introduced Maroon 5 to kick off the celebration of the Beach Boys, who have been making music for 50 years.  Adam and the boys have buttery harmony on "Little Surfer Girl."  Foster the People has captured the BB sound to a tee on "Wouldn't It Be Nice"!  (Sidebar: Wouldn't it be nice these classics were re-made and became hits again?)

9:32 - Quiet on the set! Stevie Wonder inroduces Sir Paul to sing "a new romantic standard." So elegant a smooth, he got a standing ovation.

9:37 - Best R&B Album presented by Taraji P. Henson and Common. Chris Brown

Adele wins Song of th Year for "Rolling In the Deep"
9:59 OMG Country lbum of the Year, Lady Antebellum

10:05 - Gwenyth Paltrow introuduces Adele, who already won 4 Grammys tonight.  She looks stunning singing the hit that fans everywhere can't seem to get enough of, "Rolling in the Deep."  (Did you see the Adele commercial earlier that showed a bus full of school-aged kids singing the song?)  The adoration from the crowd says it all.  Another unforgettable moment as Adele returns to the stage for teh first time since undergoing throat surgery.

Sir Paul will be performing Beatles classic.

10:16 - Taylor Swift is back to introduce the tribute to Glen Campbell.  Blake Shelton sings "Southern Nights".  (The camera caught the "Voice" judege beaming when his wife Miranda Lambert came out as a presenter earlier tonight.)  Campbell a Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner, adds a PC line to the classic "Like A Rihineston

10:31 - Forever Young, Tony Bennett, who won a Grammy tonight, sings a duet of "It Had to Be You With Carrie Underwood." Best New Artist award goes to Bon Iver. (Ever heard of him?)

10:36 - Neil Portnow "We take care of our own by emembering them when they leave us." Also acknowledged John Cossette.  followed by a montage of the deceased.   Jennifer Hudson is center stage singing a touching rendition of  "I'll Always Love You,"  ending it with "Whitney we will always love you." J hud's perfomance was awesome, but weren't we supoosed to get more of a tribute?

11:11 - Adele won Song of the YEar for "Rolling in the Dep" and is not a woman of many wor
"Here's something you don't see everyday or every decade," Seacrest said before the California dreamers took the stage to sing "Good Vibrations"  alone and then with both goups who saluted them.  Another classic Grammy moments was made as the audince went wild.
