2012 BET Award Nominees,Performers

Kanye, Jay Z and Beyonce lead the list of 2012 BET Awards nominees with 7, 6, and 5 nods repectively. Jay Z's nods are for collabos with Kanye on the album “Watch the Throne.”  Two of Bey's noms are for the Video of the Year ("Countdown" a "Love on Top.") a category where she faces off with her Kanye ("N--gas in Paris.)

For the first time this year the highest grossing actor of all time (Guiness), Samuel L.Jackson will host the biggest night in urban entertainment live from the Shrine Auditorium on July 1.  Plus, be there will a long overdue tribute to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, this year's recipients of the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award. The State Farm Humanitarian Award will be presented to Rev. Al Sharpton for his years of  tireless efforts to seek just for all, including leading the charge in exposing issues in the Trayon Martin case this year.

The show is one of the highest rated awards shows.  Not to be out done previous years, the 2012 production is expected to be the biggest to date with such high octane performers as Chris Brown, Usher, a tribute to Whitney Houston that will  be led by her mother Cissy, and  a comeback performance from R&B singer D'Angelo.

The BET awards recognize the accomplishments of Black Entertainers in 20 categories including athletes, actors and music artists.
