Inspiring True Story of the Restoration of a Drug Addicted Gang Leader Also Earns Gold Crown Awards for Youth Film and Evangelistic Film as well as the Silver Crown for Best Picture.

Richmond, VA, June 29, 2017  – Last night, the movie VICTOR was honored at the Annual ICVM CROWN Awards as it received the Gold Crown for Best Evangelistic Film, Best Youth Film and Best Drama over $250,000. The film also received the Silver Crown for Best Picture.

The Crown Awards is the final event during the International Christian Visual Media Association (ICVM) annual conference.  The Crown Awards recognizes excellence in the production and content of films and videos created to reflect Christian Values.  ICVM exists to be a supportive Christian community for those involved in the production and distribution of visual media, encouraging and networking to communicate Christ to the world.

“These awards are such a great honor,” explains Victor Torres, whose life story is reflected in the film. “If anyone would have told me back when I was a gang member and drug addict on the streets of Brooklyn, dying, that one day my life would be the topic of a film that is touching so many lives, I wouldn’t have believed them. All I can do is thank God for his faithfulness.”

After a successful theatrical run in select markets, VICTOR recently released on DVD and Digital HD through all major digital channels including iTunes, Amazon, VUDU and Google Play, streaming on ChristianCinema.com and via Theatrical On Demand through GATHR.  Through a partnership with Outreach, organizations and churches that want to share this powerful story of hope and restoration with their communities can also access affordable site licenses.

VICTOR shares the true story of gang leader turned pastor Victor Torres.  As a teen, Victor was forced to survive the dark streets of 1962 Brooklyn after his family moved from Puerto Rico seeking the American Dream. Enslaved by the power of the gang community, a hunger to make fast money and an all-consuming addiction to heroin, Victor needed healing and restoration before he destroyed his family and himself. VICTOR tells his redemptive story of the rebellion of a son, the love and faith of a mother, and the faith to overcome impossible odds.

VICTOR stars Patrick Davis (IN THE NAME OF GOD, “From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series”), Josh Pence (LA LA LAND, THE SOCIAL NETWORK), Lisa Vidal (STAR TREK, “American Horror Story”), Jose Zuniga (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Lobo Sebastian (THE LONGEST YARD, “CSI: Miami”) and Haley Ramm (INTO THE WILD, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND). Created by GW Films and Spiral Films and distributed by Ocean Avenue Entertainment, VICTOR was directed by Brandon Dickerson (SIRONIA, A SINGLE FRAME), and written by Dickerson and Thomas Ward (SIRONIA, IN THE MIDDLE).
