VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. – April 5, 2018 – From lifesaving heart surgery for impoverished children to life-changing solar power technology helping millions in Africa, Israeli volunteers have improved lives worldwide for more than half a century.
Now, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the modern nation of Israel, CBN Documentaries showcases five Israel-based service organizations making a difference around the globe in To Life: How Israeli Volunteers Are Changing the World.
On April 16, the entire five-part short film documentary series premieres on CBN’s YouTube Channel--leading up to April 19, Israel’s Independence Day.
“These are the stories about Israel you won’t see in the news,” said CBN CEO Gordon Robertson. “Despite their own security challenges, Israel has been at the forefront of humanitarian and disaster relief work since the 1950s, less than a decade after becoming a nation. Since then, the Jewish state has provided humanitarian aid to millions of people in 140 countries around the world.”
With Erin Zimmerman as writer, director and producer, CBN Documentaries crews followed Israeli volunteers to Uganda, Nepal, Greece, Kurdistan and the Palestinian territories, capturing their humanitarian efforts through stunning cinematography and moving interviews with volunteers and those whose lives they changed.
Featured organizations include:
  • Save a Child’s Heart—Providing lifesaving heart surgery to children.
  • Innovation: Africa—Improving lives with solar and water technologies.
  • IsraAID—Bringing disaster relief to Nepal earthquake victims and wherever needed.
  • Israel Defense Forces—Yes! Israel’s military has a humanitarian relief component.
  • Springs of Hope—Helping refugees in Kurdistan.
Following the CBN YouTube channel premiere, the five short films of To Life: How Israeli Volunteers Are Changing the World air on CBN’s The 700 Club beginning April 16 with new segments broadcasted daily through April 20. A DVD of the series will be available for a donation to CBN.
To Life: How Israeli Volunteers Are Changing the World is the newest Israel-related production by CBN Documentaries. In 2017, In Our Hands marked the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War—premiering to sold-out showings across America. In 2015, the Emmy®-nominated docudrama: The Hope: The Rebirth of Israel told the extraordinary journey through the 50 years that preceded the founding of the modern State of Israel. And in 2014, CBN produced Made in Israel, which was nominated for three Emmy Awards®.
