The Ruins are well-gelled on 'Sample Size' to be released on April 20

Ruins are:Lloyd Rock (vocals & drums) Nik Kavanagh (bass & synth)
Existing somewhere between dream and memory, the lyrically enchanting songs of Ruins present a melodic honesty, as joyous and melancholic as the human heart.
Recorded in Liverpool’s Crosstown Studios, the duo's intimate storytelling takes the listener on an ethereal reminiscence through an emotive landscape of lives past and futuristic nostalgia. Atmospheric noisescapes centre around minimal synth and drum machine arrangements, underpinned by brooding basslines.
The duo at the core of these sonic snapshots are the soaring falsetto vocals of Lloyd Rock, with songwriter Nik Kavanagh - formerly bassist with John Peel session regulars Ella Guru - providing the musical foundation for the band's moody sound.
Nik says: "I became weary of creating songs in the acoustic singer-songwriter format and wanted to try something different with these songs. Having been inspired by The Durutti Column and The Cure I essenti…

Trump Proclaims 50th anniversary of the death of MLK

50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ASSASSINATION OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION

Fifty years ago today, on April 4, 1968, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was tragically assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.  Though he was taken from this earth unjustly, he left us with his legacy of justice and peace.  In remembrance of his profound and inspirational virtues, we look to do as Dr. King did while this world was privileged enough to still have him.  We must learn to live together as brothers and sisters lest we perish together as fools.  We must embrace the sanctity of life and love our neighbor as we love ourselves.  As a united people, we must see Dr. King's life mission through and denounce racism, inhumanity, and all those things that seek to divide us.
It is not government that will achieve Dr. King's ideals, but rather the people of this great country who will see to it that our Nation represents all tha…

RIP: South Africa's 'Mother of the Nation' Minnie Mandela has died

The ex-wife of the late Civil Rights icon Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Winnie Mandela has died at the age of 81. While she fought for her husband's prison release and campaigned as a leading global figure for the African National Congress, Minnie became de-popularized by accusations that she was responsible for the killing of numerous men, women an children. (Allegedly violent thugs on her team carried out the murders). Mr. Mandela did not mention his former bride in his will upon his death in 2013. Mrs. Mandela was jailed several times in her life and spent a year in solitary confinement. Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson played Mrs. Mandela in the film adaptation of her life.

Winnie Mandela died on April 2, 2018 after being in and out of the hospital for an ongoing illness.
