VIDEO: Stellar Awards Pre-Show 2018 + Winners List

By Mona Austin Hosted by gospel artists Lonnie Hunter and Lexi, the 33rd Annaul Stellar Awards pre-show was held in Las Vegas on Friday, March 23, 2018. Sponsored by AARP, the show featured both Stellar nominated acts and artists on the rise.  Since moving from Nashville to Vegas and including more mainstream entertainers the production, the Stellars seem to have grown to the point of overflow. The format has changed so that the vast majority of the winners of the prestigious gospel music honor were announced apart from the main event.  Typically, award shows have a separate ceremony ahead of the main event to avoid exceeding their broadcasting window. Marching for Life: Student movement triggers worldwide outcry for U.S. gun control

Thousands of students have gathered in Washington for the March for Our Lives demonstration in response to the mass killings at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL last month. They are not alone. Their cries for gun control have been heard around the world, attracting millions as citizens in 844 other countries yoke to their message. The discussion raises the question about how both students and teachers can be protected in the classroom. In the aftermath of the Parkland shooting President Donald Trump met with students, parents, educators and law enforcement to dig for solutions. Dennis Edwards, one of the lead singers of the legendary Detroit-based R&B group, The Temptations has died.  Edwards passed away 2 days before his 75th birthday. Edwards may be best recognized for his singing on such songs as "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone."  Mr. Edwards replaced original lead singer of the quintet David Ruffin the 1970s and he was later replaced by the late Ollie Woodson.
