'Moonlight' and "Atlanta' win big at Golden Globe Awards

(LOS ANGELES, CA) - JANUARY 9, 2017 - Last night, 135th Street Agency clients A24 and FX took home Golden Globes for the critically acclaimed film Moonlight and the hit new comedy series "Atlanta," respectively. 

"Atlanta" won and impressive two Golden Globes Sunday night.  Last month, Donald Glover, the actor/star/creator of the project picked up a "Best Actor in a Comedy Series" award for "Atlanta" at the Critics' Choice Awards. Season one of "Atlanta" is available for viewing online.

Going into the evening with six nominations, Moonlight won the night's most prestigious prize: "Best Motion Picture - Drama," while "Atlanta" earned "Best Musical or Comedy TV Series" and "Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy" for creator/executive producer/star Donald Glover.

Moonlight director Barry Jenkins during his acceptance speech. To my mom... you gave me my life and I hope this film is a fulfillment of the life that you gave me. [And] To everybody on Twitter, Instagram, and everybody back home in Miami and New Orleans if you have seen this film, and told a friend all I ever ask is that you tell a friend, tell a friend and tell a friend."

Since opening last October, Moonlight has been nominated for six NAACP Image Awards, six AAFCA Awards, three Screen Actor Guild Awards and six Independent Spirit Awards. The film has won two Critics' Choice Awards, four Gotham Awards, four LA Film Critics Association Awards, three NY Film Critics Circle Awards and many more.
