The season to be jolly is coming much earlier each year, whihc means we start hearing the songs of the season.  In retail by the time the last week in October rolls around amny stores are already playing holiday music.  Capturing the spirit of the season music acts as a unifying force between people of diverse views and backgrounds.  In hopes of spreading Christmas cheer I have compiled a list of 20 classics.

It was difficult to put together a list of my favorite songs.  Every time I think I have narrowed it down to the seminal list another song I cherish pops into my head!  By no means is this list final.  It's more so a combination of the songs that I think have the most appeal to my broad audience of readers and a select few that fall into the category of "Christmas time is here." Here are 20 of my favorites in no particular order:

Alabama Pastor Shot and Killed in Domestic Incident

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains .   Data on murders (homicides) committed by race in the United States primarily comes from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, which relies on reports from law enforcement agencies. The most recent detailed breakdown available is for 2023, but due to the FBI's transition to a new reporting system (NIBRS), not all agencies submitted complete data—only about 70-80% of the population was covered, so totals are undercounts. These figures represent known offenders (where race was identified), not arrests or convictions, and include single-offender and multi-offender incidents. In 2023, there were approximately 15,708 known murder offenders with identified race.
