“A holy moment. Spiritual.” This is how Lindi Ortega describes the feeling of taking the stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Ortega, who made her Opry debut at the Ryman in 2015, recently returned for her second appearance on June 28, 2017. For an artist who often looks to life’s darker moments for inspiration, Ortega radiates pure joy in a new backstage video that documents her return.

“Last year I came to do the Opry tour with my Dad, and I remember standing in one of the rooms and I stood there and I looked around and I thought, ‘Wow, I hope one day I get to play here,'” Ortega recounts.

2017 has seen the release of a well-received EP, Til the Goin’ Gets Gone, on which Ortega cut to the quick for an emotionally harrowing exposition on endurance. A tour withChris Stapleton, another Canadian Country Music Award nomination for Roots Artist of the Year (her 7th nomination in this category), opening for Kenny Rogers and this Grand Ole Opry performance are among highlights that show Ortega continues to occupy an interesting position in country music, where she is highly respected as both an insider and an outlier.

Following an appearance at AmericanaFest in Nashville in September, Ortega will hit the road with Andrew Combs for a series of co-headline shows. Details bel
