Jazz Phenomenon Camille Thurman Set for Three-Night Stand at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola

Singer-Saxophonist-Composer Appears with The Darrell Green Trio After Second International Tour with the
Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra
(New York, NY – March 2, 2020) – Dynamic singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Camille Thurman brings her prodigious musical talents back to New York City audiences next month with a six-show, three-night stand at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola (located at 10 Columbus Circle, New York, NY 10019). Appearing with the critically acclaimed Darrell Green Trio, Thurman is set to perform at the exciting Jazz at Lincoln Center venue for two shows nightly, Friday through Sunday, March 13-15, 2020.
Thurman has proven herself to some of the greatest names on the contemporary jazz scene as well as audiences around the world. The triple-threat artist has continued her second exciting season as saxophonist and featured vocalist – as well as the only woman – with the world-renowned Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis for 2019-2020, which has included tour stops across Africa, Europe, South America, and the U.S. Within the last week of February 2020, JLCO performed at the prestigious Wiener Kinzerthaus in Vienna, Austria; the gorgeous Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Spain; and the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, Spain. This has been Thurman’s second full season with the JLCO; in 2018-2019 she earned respect and raves on dates in the U.S., Singapore, China, Australia, and Brazil.
She has collaborated on numerous live dates and recordings with noted drummer Darrell Green, whom she met at a well-known New York jazz club that hosted a local jam session. Green’s dynamism as a performer and composer (he’s toured with many jazz notables), as well as his support for her artistry, led them to collaborate as composers and arrangers, with Thurman singing and playing with Green’s trio at numerous gigs and in the studio. In 2018she and Darrell Green were selected by the U.S. State Department to tour five countries in Africa as a U.S. Cultural Ambassador.
Camille Thurman’s talents and skills have also earned her much-deserved media attention recently. She was featured in a BET network Black History Month Exclusive: Future 40 story, sponsored by Walmart, to discuss her journey as a jazz artist. Thurman was also featured in BET’s 2020 Black Excellence Trilogy series for Black History Month, paying tribute to her heroes, saxophonist Dexter Gordon and singer Sarah Vaughan.
Thurman continues to impress audiences with her inventive mix of fluid, scat-tastic vocals, muscular sax lines and rhythmic inventiveness have steadily gained fans and critical raves. Among many upcoming engagements, Thurman is set to headline at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s intimate and luxurious Appel Room in January 2021, performing music from the Burt Bacharach songbook. Her debut performance as an Appel Room headliner is part of a Singers Over Manhattan series sure to delight fans of classic jazz vocal artistry
