Whitney, Biggie make 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, ceremony postponed

On May 2, 2020, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will add one of the greatest female vocalists of all time to its role -- Whitney Houston.  Houston fans were shocked that she was not already a member and gladly showed cast their votes for her. She will take her place among the exclusive group of performers in the 35th annual induction ceremony this November. New York rapper Biggie Smalls  will also join the prestigious class of musicians posthumolously.  The full list of honorees follows:

  • Depeche Mode
  • The Doobie Brothers
  • Whitney Houston
  • Nine Inch Nails
  • The Notorious B.I.G.
  • T. Rex
Ahmet Ertegun Award:
  • Jon Landau
  • Irving Azoff

Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band, Judas Priest, Kraftwerk, MC5, Motörhead, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, Soundgarden, and Thin Lizzy made this year's ballot, but did not amass enough  votes.

The induction ceremony was scheduled to be held at Cleveland’s Public Hall on May 2 until public gatherings were restricted over the Coronavirus outbreak, forcing the program's postponement. The event was re-scheduled  for Saturday, November 7.
The ceremony, will now run live on HBO for the first time at 8 p.m. ET.
