White House: Pres. Biden opened 2023 delivering results and keeping promises

President Biden opened the new year with a banner week for the administration when it comes to delivering what elected officials owe the American people: delivering results and keeping his promises.

The President took action on a range of top issues this week, including making a breakthrough infrastructure announcement alongside Republican and Democratic colleagues and ramping up implementation of other historic economic laws that are paying off for the country.

In the latest proof that President Biden continues to build an economy that works from the bottom-up and the middle out, today the United States hit the lowest unemployment rate in half a century and 2021 and 2022 were established as the strongest years for job growth in our history.

American voters send leaders to Washington to get things done that improve their lives. And this week, President Biden demonstrated how to make that happen.

On Wednesday, President Biden and leaders from both parties travelled to Kentucky to announce the latest in a surging list of economic wins from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that’s rebuilding America, long-delayed investments in the Brent Spence Bridge. Senator McConnell called the law a “legislative miracle” and Governor Beshear underlined that “Multiple presidents promised a companion bridge, and this president delivered.”

Thursday, the President gathered his cabinet to ensure that ramped-up implementation of the historic laws he signed are yielding the greatest possible economic benefits for the American people, ranging from the CHIPS and Science Act that’s accelerating the reshoring trend he’s leading to the Inflation Reduction Act that’s cutting energy and prescription drug costs.

President Biden also took action to build on the record funding he has delivered to secure our southern border, cracking down on unlawful crossings while expanding legal pathways to immigration.

Today President Biden is also recognizing Americans who risked their lives for the rule of law and for our democracy on January 6th, honoring law enforcement officers, election workers, and elected officials from both parties who chose their duty to the Constitution in the face of violence and intimidation.
