The Howard University School of Divinity Alumni Association honored Gospel Star Earnest Pugh (best known for the #1 gospel radio hits “I Need Your Glory” and “Rain On Us”) alongside five other distinguished alumni at a lavish banquet ceremony this past Sunday at Howard University’s Blackburn Center. Alumni Association President Dr. Robert G. Childs, who was one of Pugh’s Divinity School professors, presented the soul-stirring, five-octave singer with the Alumni Award for the Arts and said, “It’s no surprise that Earnest became a professional singer because he was always singing around campus.” Pugh, who graduated from the school of divinity in 2004, confessed that, “this means more to me than a Grammy Award because it came from my alma mater.”

After a concise and humorous acceptance speech, Pugh launched into a riveting concert that commenced with the rousing “I Praise Your Name” that brought the audience to its collective feet. Pugh made mention of the recent Baltimore riots and segued into his concert staple “Perfect Peace.” Pugh then sang his signature songs “Rain On Us” and “I Need Your Glory” and sang them with such a blazing fire that it’s a wonder no one called the fire department to extinguish it. The show concluded with a medley of heart-thumping and thought-provoking hymns that left tears dripping down many cheeks. The concert proceeds go to the Alumni Association’s Scholarship Fund.

Dr. Pugh lived in the DMV area for over a decade until his recent move to Houston, TX where he’s the Worship Pastor at The Lighthouse Church. While in the DMV, Pugh was a member of the music department at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Ft. Washington, M.D. and earned a master’s of divinity degree from Howard University’s School of Divinity while continuing his successful recording career. Last year he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Divinity in Christian Counseling from The Institute for Teaching God’s Word in Rockdale, TX.

Beverly Hills, CA.,  (April 21, 2015) — Netflix, the world’s leading Internet TV network, has ordered a 13-episode season of a new multi-camera comedy from Warner Horizon Television, Miller-Boyett Productions and Jeff Franklin Productions. Fuller House is the long-awaited sequel to the iconic hit series Full House. Created by original Full House creator Jeff Franklin, Fuller House will premiere exclusively across all Netflix territories in 2016.

Candace Cameron-Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are set to star in Fuller House, with fellow Full House star John Stamos set to produce and reprise his original role of Uncle Jesse as a guest star in the new show. Discussions with Full House stars Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin regarding guest appearances in Fuller House are ongoing.

In Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Cameron-Bure) pregnant and recently widowed, living in San Francisco. D.J.’s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Sweetin) and D.J.’s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Barber), along with Kimmy’s feisty teenage daughter Ramona, all move in to help take care of D.J.’s two boys — the rebellious 12-year-old J.D. and neurotic 7-year-old Max — and her soon-to-arrive baby.

“As big fans of the original Full House, we are thrilled to be able to introduce Fuller House’s new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content for Netflix.

In a joint statement, executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Jeff Franklin said:  “The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”

Brooklyn's Kimik X releases "Bug Out"

buzzz worthy. . .

Singer-songwriter's new release heats up dance floors in time for summer
NEWARK, Del., April 28, 2015 -- A brand-new artist is set to be on everyone's playlists this summer. Independent label Kaieteur Records (http://www.kaieteurrecords.com) has dropped "Bug Out," the debut single by urban pop singer-songwriter Kimik X, and as the artist's upbeat signature mix of dance, funk and hip-hop gets more airtime, fans are flocking to iTunes to download "Bug Out."

With a strong hook and an irresistible beat, "Bug Out" is already playing on more than 70 radio stations across the U.S. Kaieteur Records founder and president Michael Morian attributes the song's rising popularity to the dedication of Kimik X.

"Kimik X has been writing songs and learning his craft since he was very young," Morian explained. "His talent for songwriting and an unwavering focus on creating great music have resulted in 'Bug Out' appealing to a wide audience. Kaieteur Records is proud to represent Kimik X, and we can't wait to introduce more of his work."

From his early childhood in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, New York, Kimik X knew music was his future. His parents encouraged him to pursue his passion, which he did by spending countless hours singing and writing his own songs. When Kimik X was 17, his father enrolled him in a hip-hop history class--and the die was set.

After the class ended, Kimik X threw himself into his music. He recorded mix tapes, cut demos and shot some low-budget videos to showcase his work, with the hope of catching an executive's attention. And when Kimik X's tape found its way into Morian's hands, Morian knew he had just discovered something special. He immediately signed Kimik X, and they got to work on "Bug Out."
Rather than sit back and relax while "Bug Out" climbs the charts, Kimik X is back in the studio finishing up his debut CD. The official music video for "Bug Out" will be released shortly. In the meantime, fans who want a sneak peek at Kimik X can see and hear him at KaieteurRecords.com.
Listen to "Bug Out" on Kimik X's SoundCloud and view the "Bug Out" commercial on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/bLBqB-4G8Sg.

SNEAK PEEK: WEtv's "Cutting It in the ATL" Premieres Thursday, May 21at 10pm ET/PT

buzzz worthy. . .

Cutting It: In the ATL follows four salon owners who are out to grow their businesses while competing with one another for clients and stylists.  When one salon owner recommends forming a partnership to grow each of their individual businesses, some are intrigued, but others would rather just trim the competition.  Can these four top-tier salon owners put petty jealousies and narrow thinking aside, or will their ambitions come between them and hurt their business aspirations?
Meet the Cast
Beautii, "Countess of Class" and owner of Spoiled Opulence Salon, worked hard to be on top of her game. The once homeless single mother is no stranger to this competitive business and will do whatever it takes to take them all down by storm; by treating every client like a celebrity

Dedra, "The Commander-In-Chic," and fiercely opinionated owner of J'Doah Salon, sees her salon as a 'hidden gem' but is envious of more established owners like Maja, Beautii, and Mushiya.  In an attempt to keep up with the competition, Dedra hires LaKenya, a former employee of Beautii's to broaden her services and clientele. LaKenya is hoping that J'Doah is her last stop before owning her own business.

Mushiya, "The Natural Boss" and owner of The Damn Salon - THE premiere place to go for natural hair in the ATL -has a flare for the dramatic and it shows in every aspect of her life.  Her beauty, unique look, and mere presence are enough to quiet any room she enters and her distaste for chemically enhanced or processed hair is no secret.

Maja, "The Minister of Weaves," burst into the ATL hair scene by changing the playing field with Walk-In Weave Salons - the quick and affordable weave salon. This business savvy, no-nonsense salon owner has her eye on the prize and plans to soak up every last dollar Atlanta has to offer.

These salon owners are opinionated, fierce and have a flair for hair, as well as the dramatic. In the premiere episode of Cutting It: In the ATL, Maja formulates a plan to grow her empire with the help of the city's top salon owners and gathers Beautii, Mushiya, and Dedra for a meeting of the minds. However, when ATL's top hair divas are put together in one room; it's far from what she expected. Though Mushiya can see Maja's vision, others are not so easily convinced. Dedra ruffles feathers when she reveals that she hired LaKenya, a former employee of Beauttii's, to help increase her business.  Is Maja strong enough to convince these owners to follow her lead? Or will they let jealousies, petty money squabbles and egos come between them and the 'coins' Maja has to offer?  In the battle to reign supreme, find out who is Cutting It in the ATL!  Tune in Thursday, May 21st, 10pm ET/PT.
