Meet Trump's surprising Evangelical advisory board

buzzz worthy. . .

Donald Trump has selected an Evangelical Advisory Board made up of  some of the most prominent faith leaders in America to ease concerns about his religious beleifs, hoping to wrangle the faith base electorate. The team was announced after Trump met with some 900 Evangelical leaders last Tuesday.  Focus on the Family Founder James Dobson, Liberty University's Jerry Falwell, Richard Land, President of the Southern Evangelical Seminary and hosts of Believers Voice of Victory Kenneth and Gloria Copeland are listed.  The members of the board have not necessarily endorsed the presumptive GOP candidate for President, but have come together to express Evangelical interests and answer Trump's "desire to have access to the wise counsel of such leaders as needed."

Of the 25 names announced, former Minnesota Congress woman Michele Bachman is the only non-religious figure named to the board.

“I have such tremendous respect and admiration for this group and I look forward to continuing to talk about the issues important to Evangelicals, and all Americans, and the common sense solutions I will implement when I am President," Trump said in a statement.  The statement said Trump is showing what he endorses by reaching out to these leaders.

The name of Ohio Pastor Darrell Hines is surprisingly not on the list.   Hines has trumpeted the billionaire businessman at campaign events and on national news programs acting as a surrogate and was one of the organizers that brought together Black pastors to meet with Trump. Many of the pastors who were invited publicly denounced Trump and criticized Hines for his involvement with him.  Land and Dobson both have publicly criticized Trump.

Considering the inflammatory comments and insults presidential candidate has made about minorities, women the physically challenged it is especially shocking to see names like mega church pastors Paula White and A.R. Bernard who head largely Black congregations.

The full list of racially and sexually diverse board members follows::

· Michele Bachmann - Former Congresswoman
· A.R. Bernard - Senior Pastor and CEO, Christian Cultural Center
· Mark Burns - Pastor, Harvest Praise and Worship Center

Statement by Press Secretary Josh Earnest on the Zika Conference Report

buzzz worthy. . .

While we are still awaiting more details on the legislation, it is clear that once again, Republicans have put political games ahead of the health and safety of the American people, particularly pregnant women and their babies. This plan from Congressional Republicans is four months late and nearly a billion dollars short of what our public health experts have said is necessary to do everything possible to fight the Zika virus and steals funding from other health priorities. The fact that the Republican plan limits needed birth control services for women in the United States and Puerto Rico as we seek to stop the spread of a sexually transmitted disease is a clear indication they don't take seriously the threat from the Zika virus or their responsibility to protect Americans.

ATLANTA – At UP, We Get Family.  The entertainment destination that showcases stories about modern American families and the relationships that define them, announced today that it has greenlit a new original series, “Date My Dad,” that will make its world television debut in late Spring 2017.

Produced by 50° North Productions in association with EveryWhere Studios, the yet to be cast 10-episode family dramedy tells the story of a single dad raising three teenage daughters. Three years after losing their mother, the daughters make it their mission to get their dad back in the game…the dating game, that is.

“At UP, we are committed to bringing our viewers great stories about family in all its forms, and 'Date My Dad’ is the perfect addition to our collection,” said Amy Winter, evp and general manager, UP. "We fell in love with the charming and beleaguered father and his precocious daughters in this series and know our audience will as well. It has all the heart and humor that we look for in a show and fills a void for this kind of storytelling on television.”

“As a mother of a young son, there is little, if anything, on television that mirrors the joys and challenges of my life.  Family life shown in an authentic way with a heavy dose of warmth and humor is surprisingly absent from television, and I am thrilled that UP wants to bring that back,” said Nina Colman, creator, writer and executive producer.

Ricky Parker had the perfect life.  A former professional baseball player, he was married to Isabella, the love of his life. Ricky’s world comes crashing down when Isabella passes away leaving him to raise three daughters alone.  “Date My Dad” picks up three years later while Ricky is raising the girls with the help of his live-in mother-in-law, Rosa.  When Rosa unexpectedly announces that she is moving, Ricky becomes panic-stricken knowing he will have to tackle everything from make-up to boys to driving on his own. His daughters – Mirabel (15), Elisa (13) and Gigi (10) – decide that on his 40th birthday, he needs to get out there and start dating again. Ricky is in for a roller coaster ride as he is pushed into the dating world for the first time in twenty years with his girls giving him advice along the way.

“Date My Dad” is executive-produced by 50° North’s Sacha McLean, Jason McLean and David McLean, along with EveryWhere Studios’ Dan Angel, Tom Mazza and David Calvert Jones.  “Date My Dad” is created, written by and executive produced by Nina Colman. Charles Lyall serves as producer.

Drought's Over: Cleveland Cavaliers win 2016 NBA Championship after 5 decades

buzzz worthy. . .

By Mona Austin

All hail "King James." Led by Lebron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the winners of the 2016 NBA Championship. The city of Cleveland has not heard those words in half a century.  James kept the promise he made to his hometown fan base and swiped the victory from defending champions, the Steph Curry led Golden State Warriors.

The Cavs are the first team in NBA franchise history to come back and win after a 3-1 deficit. Mr. James, 31 left Miami and returned to Cleveland, his hometown when they were struggling and has helped turn the team around.

An emotional win, the 6 foot 8 inch tall power forward put his heart, body and soul into the contest. At one point he sprung into super hero like action. Appearing to defy gravity he swooped over an opposing player to defend  the would be goal with a block from the rear. In the final minutes of the game he injured his wrist after falling and  rolled in agony on the court surrounded by team mates and a medical team.  Nothing --including excruciating pain--would stop him from snagging the prize. James finished off the Golden State Warriors on their home turf, the Oracle Arena with a triple double.  He was the recipient of  the Most Valuable Player Award and said he was he was motivated to prove doubters wrong when accepting it.    This win is James' third title, his first with the Cavs.

No Cleveland team has won a major national title since 1964.  Final score: 93-89. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said,  "The curse is over. The 52 year drought has come to an end."

Other than eternal bragging rights, here is what the winning team receives: a championship ring (worth about 15k),  $4 million divided among the team based on their salary and the losing team gets $3 million. They will also get to visit the next President of the United States at the White House.
