BET COMPLETES CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL TALENT LINE UP


SUNDAY BEST WINNERS LEANDRIA JOHNSON AND Y’ANNA CRAWLEY ADDED TO THE STELLAR LIST OF PERFORMERS ON BET’S CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL, PREMIERING SUNDAY, JANUARY 30 AT 8:00 P.M.*

LOS ANGELES — December 6, 2010 —Due to popular demand, LeAndria Johnson and Y’Anna Crawley, the winners of season two and three of BET’s hit gospel singing competition SUNDAY BEST, have been added to all-star lineup of performers on the number one gospel show on television CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL. The anointed songstresses will perform alongside season two runner-up Jessica Reedy and 2011 Grammy®-nominated artist (Best Female R&B Vocal Performance) Kelly Price. This highly acclaimed two-hour special, premiering on Sunday, January 30 at 8:00 p.m.*,  pays tribute to the rich history of gospel music in a unique format that combines today’s leading gospel and secular artists!
 
In addition, BET would like to congratulate the following CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL performers who recently scored nominations for the 53rd Annual Grammy® Awards: Israel Houghton (Best Gospel Performance and Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album), VaShawn Mitchell (Best Gospel Performance and Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album), Pastor Shirley Caesar (Best Traditional Gospel Album), BeBe Winans (Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album and Best Gospel Performance) and secular R&B crooner El DeBarge (Best R&B Song and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance). They are expected to bring down the house with their soul stirring performances.
 
Other performances and appearances include Byron Cage, Donnie McClurkin, Smokie Norful, Chaka Khan, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell, James Fortune and FIYA, Earnest Pugh, Rance Allen Group, Beverly Crawford with Dr. Bobby Jones and the Spirit of David Choir, and Jonathan Nelson and Purpose. Bishop TD Jakes and actors Hill Harper and Keith David will perform in CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL’s signature spoken word segments.
 
Hosted by popular actor, author and comedian Steve Harvey, this highly anticipated special will be taped at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021.
