Songwriter Carole King to be honored at the White House

Tonight Carole King ("You Got A Friend," "I Feel the Earth") will be the first woman to receive the distinguished Gershwin Prize presented by the Library of Congress. Musicians who have achieved the magnanimous level of success associated with the Gershwin Brothers (George and Ira: "Summertime"), whose manuscripts reside in the Library of Congress. King will received the honor for her contributions to Popular Songs, which boasts numerous standards from the 1970's.
The program will include performances by King, as well as The all-star tribute will include performances by Patti Austin, Colbie Caillat, Michael Feinstein, Siedah Garrett, Louise Goffin, Shelby Lynne, Gian Marco, Arturo Sandoval.
