Introducing Contemporary Christian Artist Philip White
buzzz worthy. . .
Philip
White is an Urban/Contemporary Gospel artist with an upcoming EP entitled ‘Here
I Am’ set for release August 27, 2013. With an R&B sound and the production of both
gospel and urban producers Philip has captured a fresh new sound on his
independent imprint White Hill Music with distribution through
Fontana/Ingrooves.
While some
contemporary gospel male artist resort to heavy hip-hop features or hype tracks
this collection of songs contains a gospel, inspirational message tinged with R&B
flavor. With a voice that parallels current gospel artists such as Isaac
Carree, Donnie McClurkin or even R&B artist Usher; Philip takes the time to
bear his soul on his current single ‘Here I Am’ and previous single ‘Laid It
Down’ written by Juan Winans.
Philip
is a native of Jacksonville, FL who has been singing since he was a child. He
moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his musical career after his college graduation
in 2006. Singing and writing in the studio since he was a teen, Philip began
honing his craft in church while
pursuing his professional career. After hearing songs like Donnie McClurkin’s
‘Stand”, Whitney Houston’s ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ Soundtrack and Mary Mary’s first
single ‘Shackles’ he knew that recording contemporary Christian music was
something he had to do.
“I thought to myself, this desire to sing and record
was given to me to inspire and minister to the hearts of people every age,
creed and color. “ Philip White released his first top 40 single ‘Laid It Down’
in 2012 and the single was well received by radio listeners everywhere.
Both
a songwriter and an artist Philip has written for artist Juan Winans and Lisa Kimmey-Winans
(Out of Eden). He sang background for Judith McCallister, Debbie
Winans and Lisa McClendon. In addition, he has written and co-written a vast
majority of the songs on his current release.
Philip is currently a praise and
worship leader at Bethel World Outreach which is extremely important to him and
has helped to maintain his relationship with God and people who need to be
lifted. “Singing in church and being accountable is one of the best place for a
Gospel/Christian artist to begin.” Philip has made appearances on the TCT
Network Dorinda Clark-Cole Show as well as the Jimmy Fallon Show where he
performed a song he co-wrote for Jimmy’s 100th episode on NBC.
With
production from Kyle Lovett (Vashawn Mitchell), Juan Winans, gospel rap artist Pettidee
who produced sampled music from Ken Williams (Alicia Keys/Kanye West) and up
and coming Hip-Hop rapper Flawda Water; the release of the project and
appearances to follow will showcase the singer’s ability to touch the hearts
and souls of people everywhere.
