Clark Sheard Performs on a Tribute to Aretha Franklin Tonight on BET Honors

(Detroit, MI – February 24, 2014) – Four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Karen Clark Sheard releases new single, “Sunday AM” impacting gospel radio March 24th. “Sunday AM”, pronounced as “Sunday Morning” is produced by award-winning super producer Donald Lawrence and was recorded live at the House of Hope in Chicago, IL. The recording marks the first project with Karew Record’s new distribution partner, Entertainment One Music (eOne Music). The untitled forthcoming album is scheduled for release later this year. Clark Sheard performs tonight as part of a tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin on BET Honors. The show premieres during Black History Month, February 24 in the USA and around the world on BET’s international network on February 28, 2014 at 9:00pm GMT (check local listings). Other artists scheduled to perform in Franklin’s tribute include Jennifer Hudson, Franklin’s son, KeCalf Franklin and her granddaughter, Victory Franklin. BET honorees include Motown Records founder and creator of the Broadway smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, Berry Gordy, American Express CEO & Chairman, Ken Chenault, visual artist, Carrie Mae Weems and entertainment trailblazer, Ice Cube. BET Honors is hosted by actor and comedian, Wayne Brady. Other performances include Mariah Carey, Janelle Monae, Tamar Braxton, and Smokey Robinson with special guest appearances by Rev. Al Sharpton, Joe Morton, Ludacris and Mac Wilds. Clark Sheard recently completed taping the second season of the hit docu-series, The Sheards also airing on BET.

Alabama Pastor Shot and Killed in Domestic Incident

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains . Authorities have described the shooting as a “domestic incident” involving his wife,  𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲. Local news station WTVY reported "c ourt records show that Green was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges 3 times in Houston County last year, with each of those cases dismissed. Also in 2024, a woman filed a protection order against Green in Houston County in which she believed him to be a danger," but did not confirm Mrs. Massey as the suspect.    Various reports indicate the couple's children were present when he was shot in the head.   In one instance, a woman who shared children with Green alleged that he repeatedly struck her , including once when she was pregnant.
