NEW YORK, NY – March 10, 2015 -- BET Networks, in partnership with Beverly Bond, Creator/Executive Producer, CEO and Founder of BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™ are happy to announce that Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King will return to the stage as co-hosts of “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™” for the fourth time.  The televised primetime special celebrates its fifth year honoring the triumphs of inspirational African-American women who are trailblazers in the areas of art, philanthropy, sports, and community service.  This year, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center located in downtown Newark, NJ, welcomes back “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™” for a second year. Tune in to watch “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™” on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at 7 pm/ET.

“It’s wonderful to be back co-hosting ‘BLACK GIRLS ROCK! ™’ with my dear friend Tracee and working alongside all my friends at BET and BGR,” states Regina King. “I am looking forward to a heartwarming, electrifying, star-studded evening, with lots of surprises sprinkled throughout the show.  It’s always a rewarding experience for me and the fans,” elaborates King.
“BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™” nationally broadcasted its televised debut on BET in 2010.  Going into its fifth year on TV, the dynamic award show continues to represent a revolutionary landmark in media, diverging from traditional award shows by honoring powerful women through didactic, entertaining, and inspiring content. “BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™” will air on BET Networks this year for the first time since 2013 and will premiere on BET in the UK on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 9pm BST (check local listings).

The 2013 honorees included: Misty Copeland (Young, Gifted, and Black Award), Ameena Matthews (Community Activist Award), Mara Brock-Akil (Shot Caller Award), Queen Latifah (Rock Star Award), Venus Williams (Star Power Award), Patti Labelle (Living Legend Award), and Marian Wright Edelman (Social Humanitarian Award).

The televised special, “BLACK GIRLS ROCK! ™” is a BET Networks and B.G.R. Enterprises Inc./ BONDVISION MEDIA production.  The executive producers are Beverly Bond, CEO, Founder and Creator of BLACK GIRLS ROCK!™, Stephen Hill, President of Programming, and Connie Orlando, Senior Vice President of Specials, Music and News, and Jane Munn.

Alabama Pastor Shot and Killed in Domestic Incident

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains . Authorities have described the shooting as a “domestic incident” involving his wife,  𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲. Local news station WTVY reported "c ourt records show that Green was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges 3 times in Houston County last year, with each of those cases dismissed. Also in 2024, a woman filed a protection order against Green in Houston County in which she believed him to be a danger," but did not confirm Mrs. Massey as the suspect.    Various reports indicate the couple's children were present when he was shot in the head.   In one instance, a woman who shared children with Green alleged that he repeatedly struck her , including once when she was pregnant.
