Filmmakers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey among Top Chirstian Leaders in America

Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, creators of the successful television series "The Bible," and its current NBC spinoff, "A.D. The Bible Continues," were listed at No. 3 in Newsmax’s Top 100 Christian Leaders in America. Released on Monday, April 20, Downey and Burnett joined the rankings alongside other notable figures including, Franklin Graham, Joel Osteen, Rev. Billy Graham, and Rick Warren, among others.

Awarding influencers in the nation who make a real impact on modern lives in 2015, Newsmax’s Top 100 list included a wide range of prominent figures. Featuring entertainment and sports stars that are not usually considered religious leaders, but whose influence often exceeds that of pastors and televangelists, Downey and Burnett were applauded for resurrecting the Christian entertainment industry with their hit series "The Bible" and "A.D. The Bible Continues."

The original NBC series event, “A.D. The Bible Continues,” premiered as the No.1 television show of the night on the major networks in every key measure --- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers with over 9.5 million tuning in. The show also Trended at #1 on Twitter Easter Sunday.
The 12-week series airs each Sunday evening at 9/8c on NBC and features an uplifting and harrowing journey through the beginning moments of the birth of the church picking up where the smash hit, “The Bible,” left off.  “A.D. The Bible Continues” follows the first ten chapters of the Book of Acts exploring the aftermath of Christ's death and its profound impact on his disciples, his mother Mary, and key political and religious leaders of the era, an impact that would completely change the world.  
In addition, NBC Entertainment launched its first-ever digital talk show companion series, "Beyond A.D." Hosted by E! News co-host Jason Kennedy, The half-hour digital companion series serves as a discussion platform for fans, cast, producers, and special celebrity and musical guests. Airing at 9AM ET/6AM PT on Sundays and available for streaming thereafter on nbc.com, "Beyond A.D." covers both the historical and spiritual topics depicted in the broadcast and offers the chance for fans and audience members to interact with cast, producers and special guests.
