Humor and music make the perfect marriage in Royale Watkins Mixtape Comedy Show in NYC

buzzz worthy. . .

NYC is maintaining its reputation for being the hub of all things entertainment with the addition of a comedy/music combo event hosted by comedian Royale Watkins that is growing a following. Once a month Gotham Comedy Club is home to the   "Mixtape Comedy Show" where diverse comedians have performed to a packed house. The show seems to have picked up where Russell Simmons' "Def Comedy Jam" left a void--except a grandma could enjoy the show without plugging her ears.  This month catch Royale and friends on  Sunday, August 16 at 8:00 PM or every third Sunday at 8:00 p.m.

New York, NY - August 4, 2015- Comedian Royale Watkins should be considered one of the hardest working men in comedy and entertainment.  For the past 6 years the "Mixtape Comedy Show" at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City has left audiences in stitches. The night is an original mix of the funniest comics, the Livest music and a guaranteed good time featuring four comics, one of New York's most incredible DJs, a live band and a guest music act to close the show.

In 2009 Royale partnered with film and television star Anthony Anderson (Blackish) to create the "Mixtape Comedy Show." What started off as a joke between the two friends on Facebook, has grown into one of New York City's most talked about nights in stand-up comedy! Watkins lights up when he talks about the growth and success of The Mixtape Comedy Show. "We've managed to attract the support of some major players in comedy; Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Tom Papa, Amy Schumer, Sherri Shepard and most notably Jerry Seinfeld."  What sets The Mixtape Comedy Show apart from other shows is our attention to detail and the audience; a mixture of New York natives, tourists and a few of Royale's celebrity friends have been known to stop by (Ice T and CoCo, Terry and Rebecca Crews, Tisha Campbell-Martin and Denzel Washington). Thanks to solid internet buzz, the night of laughs is gaining a healthy national fan base.

Take a look at how patrons are responding to the show:

Watkins' home base is in California where he resides with his wife, April and three sons. But, every month Royale's love of performing for a live New York audience has him jetting in to New York to host his monthly (every 3rd Sunday, 8:00pm Showtime) dose of The Mixtape Comedy Show at Gotham Comedy Club, located at 208 West 23rd Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues, New York, NY 10011.  West coast fans can catch Royale's special brand of humor at Xen Lounge in Studio City where he hosts his weekly "Supa Funny Tuesdays."

More than just a comedian, Royale Watkins is also an actor having appeared in"Deliver us from
Eva", "Speed 2: Cruise Control" and his own short-lived sitcom"Built to Last." As a producer and writer he has worked on television projects such as"Def Comedy Jam", "BET Honors" and "Are We There Yet".  Most recently, Royale has directed a Comedy Central Special for Kevin Hart's Hartbeat Productions starring Lil' Rel Howery that will air in September. He hosts a weekly podcast, "Sorta, Kinda, Funny" on the Play.it Network and is currently shopping The Mixtape Comedy Show to national television outlets.
