Cafe Mocha Radio Names Hip Hop Icon YoYo As New Co-Host

buzzz worthy. . .

Los Angeles, Calif. (April 15, 2016) Veteran hip hop icon YoYo is the newest addition to the nationally syndicated Café Mocha Radio. As the show moves into its sixth year, the Ice Cube protégé has signed on to be a permanent co-host of the top-rated weekend show targeting women.

Best known for classic rap hits like "Can't Play With My YoYo," "The Bonnie & Clyde Theme" with Cube and "I Wanna Be Down" with Brandy, Queen Latifah and MC Lyte; YoYo will join original Café Mocha hosts Loni Love of "The Real" and broadcast veteran Angelique Perrin on the syndicated show.

"I'm ecstatic to join Loni and Angelique, these women are leaders in their industries, who openly and freely share their personal and professional insights weekly with listeners," says YoYo. "As Café Mocha continues to evolve, I'm looking forward to adding my flavor with anecdotes about my life as an entertainer, mother, philanthropist, and educator."

With more than 25 years in the music business, YoYo's professional journey was recently featured on TV One's marquee franchise, "Unsung." The Compton, Calif.-native-who has consistently toured throughout the years-performed earlier this year at the Trump Awards in Atlanta as part of a tribute to hip-hop trailblazers Salt-N-Pepa.

A feminist and community crusader, Café Mocha's newest co-host is working to empower young people with her youth program, YoYo's School of Hip-Hop.  YoYo's program operates in both Los Angeles, Calif. and Highland Park, Mich., where her husband, DeAndre Windom, is the mayor.

"I couldn't be more excited about the addition of YoYo to our roster of dynamic women on Café Mocha. People know about YoYo the music artist, but on Café Mocha you'll get to experience Yolanda the mother, the politician's wife, the literacy advocate and learn about the other social issues she's passionate about," says Sheila Eldridge, creator and executive producer of Café Mocha Radio. "Besides, YoYo is no stranger to radio, having previously hosted her own show on KDAY 93.5 FM in Los Angeles."

Café Mocha Radio launched in March 2010 with comedienne Love, radio veteran Angelique Perrin and rapper MC Lyte, who officially departed the show in March 2016 to continue her career and philanthropy efforts with the Hip Hop Sisters Foundation.

Says MC Lyte: "Sheila Eldridge and co-hosts Loni Love and Angelique Perrin afforded me the opportunity to inspire the masses and for this I am eternally grateful. Not only am I excited about what the future holds as I expand my entertainment empire, but I'm blessed to pass the torch to my hip hop sister and long time friend YoYo. I couldn't be more proud that she has chosen to join the Cafe Mocha family."

Eldridge continues: "We're excited that YoYo is taking over the helm that MC Lyte has held for the last 5 years and we look forward to her bringing a new perspective on the evolution of music and culture."

News of YoYo joining Café Mocha was first announced by ESSENCE.com on April 14. (Read:http://www.essence.com/2016/04/14/hip-hop-icon-yoyo-set-replace-mc-lyte-caf%C3%A9-mocha-radio)
