Solange Knowles is having a "momma I made it" moment. Her latest CD released on September 30, "A Seat at the Table" takes her out of a supporting role to sister Beyonce and places her front and center as a solo artist. "A Seat at the Table" sits on top of the Billboard 200 chart. Throughout the year Knowles express her frustration with racism in America. Physically, the album is an ode to Black beauty. Lyrically, it is an ode to Black sacrifice. The CD title is a metaphor for fairness and equality.

Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021. The couple had been in a relationship for 15 years. Pastor Winans was previously married to fellow gospel singer Vicki Winans (with whom he has two sons) for 16 years before they divorced in 1995. By Mona Austin Much of what the average American knows about Frederick Douglass lies in the pages of "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave."  His memory has lived on through the annals of history as a heroic abolitionist.
