2017 Oscars 'most diverse' nominations (FULL LIST & PREDICTIONS)
buzzz worthy. . .
The Oscars are no longer "#oscarssowhite. The people spoke about the lack of diversity among the award show nominees and The Academy apparently listened because this year turned out the most diverse list of contenders to date. Never before have we seen 3 black women nominated for Best actress or a single black woman garner her third Oscar nomination (Viola Davis.) For black directors to other actors/actresses/films tat did not come with Hollywood notoriety or huge budgets, the recognition of black and female talent is woven throughout the nominees.
Out of 336 feature films that were vying for a spot here are the 10 nominations in the 2017 Academy Awards Best Picture category: Moonlight, LaLa Land, Fences, Hidden Figures, Lion, Hacksaw Ridge, Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, and Hell or High Water. With 14 nominations, La La Land had tied Titanic for most nominated record in the 89 year history of the Academy. Moonlight received 8 nods.
The Oscars air LIVE! on OSCAR SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26 7e/4p on ABC.
