UNSUNG
Shirley Murdock is that rare singer-songwriter who's revered by fans of pop, R&B, dance music and gospel. A queen of the quiet storm sound, she burst onto the '80s music scene with Zapp & Roger, starting with her breakout performance with Roger Troutman on "Computer Love." Shirley eventually became a key part of their touring group, while also enjoying a successful solo career that's lasted four decades with hits like "As We Lay," and "Go On Without You." During her career, she's endured a string of ups and downs, including the tragedy of the Troutman brothers murder-suicide in 1999, which nearly spelled the end of Zapp. On this episode of UNSUNG, Shirley recounts her remarkable journey through music and life, and the faith that's kept her grounded along the way.
