Savoy releases statement of the passing of Kaiser CEO Bernard Tyson
ATLANTA, Nov. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Savoy magazine recognizes the loss of a tremendous business leader with the passing of Bernard J. Tyson, Chairman and CEO of Kaiser Permanente (Kaiser) on November 10, 2019. Tyson, who served as chairman of Kaiser since 2014, was 60 years old.
"Bernard was a dear friend, a mentor, a great leader, and a noble man with the biggest heart. He had a special gift to connect with people through humor and compassion. I will truly miss him," said LP Green, II, CEO & Publisher of Savoy.
Tyson's meteoric rise at Kaiser spanned over 30 years to become head of the organization. He was a beloved and savvy business leader that Savoy covered extensively during his career.

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains . Authorities have described the shooting as a “domestic incident” involving his wife, 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲. Local news station WTVY reported "c ourt records show that Green was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges 3 times in Houston County last year, with each of those cases dismissed.
