Eddie Van Halen, a guitarist who was held as a rock god, lost his battle with cancer at the age of 65 today. The recording Acacemy released the follwoing statement:

The world is lucky to have witnessed Eddie's genius as a guitarist, and we know he will influence and shape rock music indefinitely."
