ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2021 NOMINEES
NEW YORK (February 10, 2021) — The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced today the following Nominees for 2021 Induction:
- Mary J. Blige
- Kate Bush
- Devo
- Foo Fighters
- The Go-Go’s
- Iron Maiden
- JAY-Z
- Chaka Khan
- Carole King
- Fela Kuti
- LL Cool J
- New York Dolls
- Rage Against the Machine
- Todd Rundgren
- Tina Turner
- Dionne Warwick
All 16 of the nominees are legendary in their respective genres of music. Only 5 will be selected and formally inducted into the HOF this May. To be eligible they all were required to have released their first song at least 25 years ago.
Several of the diverse nominees have something in common other than music. New Yorkers Jay Z and Mary J. Blige were nominated at the same time. Devo, Rage Against the Machine, The Go-Go's, New York Dolls and Foo Fighters. On the ballot for the first time are the Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, JAY-Z, Carole King (as a performer), Fela Kuti, and Dionne Warwick. Chaka Khan is on the list a second time as a solo artist and was previously nominated with the band Rufus. If elected, Carole King and Tina Turner will become the second and third female artists inducted twice.
