NEW YORK, NY – (January 5, 2022) – Today, BET Her and BET announced the exclusive special edition “BET Her Presents…Becoming: Michelle Obama In Conversation” premiering Monday, January 17, on BET and BET Her at 7:00 PM ET/PT. Moderated by Yara Shahidi and joined on stage by students from 22 participating colleges from across the country, Mrs. Obama discusses with students the themes from her acclaimed New York Times bestselling memoir, Becoming(published by Crown/Penguin Random House), and what it’s like to navigate young adulthood in the current climate. Mrs. Obama opens the floor to the students to discuss with them topics such as their mental wellness, diversity and inclusion on college campuses, and asks thought-provoking questions about shaping their future and becoming change agents in their communities. The one-hour special was filmed at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, MD.

“I have had the privilege of seeing Mrs. Obama on her Becoming book tour, alongside my mother and grandmother, and it is so clearly evident that Becoming has had an intergenerational impact,” said Yara Shahidi. “I am grateful to have joined Mrs. Obama in bringing forward the themes of her book that resonate with myself and so many of my peers at this moment in our academic careers and life paths!"

Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021. Alabama Pastor Shot and Killed in Domestic Incident

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains . Authorities have described the shooting as a “domestic incident” involving his wife, 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐲. Local news station WTVY reported "c ourt records show that Green was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence charges 3 times in Houston County last year, with each of those cases dismissed. Also in 2024, a woman filed a protection order against Green in Houston County in which she believed him to be a danger," but did not confirm Mrs. Massey as the suspect. Various reports indicate the couple's children were present when he was shot in the head.
