(TSN): Colin Gray the 54-year-old father of Colt Gray the Winder, Georgia high school shooter has been arrested. He is charged with 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter, 2 counts of second degree murder and 8 counts of cruelty to children. In Georgia, second-degree murder means that a person has caused the death of another person. Colt Gray has been charged as an adult with 4 counts of felony murder.

It’s the second nationally known case in which prosecutors are holding parents accountable for their child’s actions and for having prior knowledge of their access to a weapon. In April, Michigan parents Jennifer and James Crumbley were the first parents to convicted and sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for not securing a firearm at home. They also showed indifference to their son Ethan mental health before he killed four students in 2021.

Chris Hosey, Director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the charges for the elder Gray stem from him knowingly allowing his son to possess a gun. The younger Gray had been interviewed by the FBI a year earlier for making online threats, but investigators sis not have enough evidence to take action. Several other students in the state have been arrested for making threats within 24 hours of the Winder incident.

Authorities released the names of the victims gunned down at Apalachee High School on Thursday. Mason Shermerhorn, 14 was among the victims. Another 14-year old, Christian Angulo was also killed. Like the suspect they were new to high school and were stripped of their futures. Teachers Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53 were also killed. The 9 injured individuals will make a full recovery.

The investigation is ongoing.
