Birthright citizenship is on trial. It is about so much more than the right to vote that is central to the Trump Administration's arguments. Potentially, everyone could be affected by any changes to precedent on the matter. The case at the U.S. Supreme Court, Trump v. Barbara examines who can claim citizenship. The day-one executive order Trump signed says that babies born in the U.S. must have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen. Learn more in the break down below.

Pastor Da’Quarius Green , a 31-year-old leader of Elba Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Alabama, was shot on Dec. 23, 2025 and died several days later in the hospital after a domestic dispute at his home in Level Plains .
