Trump Accused of Endangering Press During Plane-Switching



President Donald Trump is facing accusations of a deceptive maneuver that left reporters in harm’s way overseas.

Trump was seen boarding Air Force One in Turkey following the NATO summit. But according to reports, he was transported to the aircraft donated by Qatar in a catering truck, amid a credible Iranian missile threat.

More than 70 reporters and staffers were reportedly left behind on the original aircraft, without being told about the change or why it happened.

At one point, Secret Service agents ordered everyone aboard Air Force One to lower their shades, without explanation.

The White House denies any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, press advocates are raising broader concerns about the safety of reporters covering the president—and about how threat information and changes in security plans are communicated to the press.
