President Trump appointed press secretary, Katie Zacharia last Friday. By the following Friday afternoon she was transition out of the job,
Trump announced her appointment last Friday, calling her an attorney as she stepped in to replace Karoline Leavitt. But by this Friday, Zacharia was already out, following intense media scrutiny over her legal credentials.
Zacharia earned a law degree from Pepperdine University in 2011, but she acknowledged she never passed the California bar exam. Critics said it was misleading for her to appear on television describing herself as having practiced corporate law without being licensed in the United States.
The president said he spoke with Zacharia and gave her a chance to reconsider her role. By mid‑afternoon, she was transitioning out as the administration’s spokeswoman.
Her departure caps a turbulent week for the White House communications office and raises new questions about vetting inside the West Wing.
