Tyscot Records is continuing its 50th anniversary festivities. Last month, the company celebrated with a hearty all-star concert for SiriusXM’s Kirk Franklin’s Praise Channel that featured label co-founder Bishop Leonard Scott, Bri Babineaux, Kelontae Gavin, Mervin Mayo and Anthony Brown & group therAPy all performing before a live studio audience. SiriusXM listeners can hear it on demand at https://www.siriusxm.com/player/show/entity/24b553c0-f10e-3135-5c8c-f31401ce38c6?utm_medium=shared

They kicked October off in grand style too. The festivities started on Monday the 6th with a spirited Gospel Showcaseat Rocketown in Nashville as a prelude to the 57th annual Dove Awards. The concert featured exhilarating performances from new Tyscot signing BC1Way, as well as Anthony Brown (who successfully battled laryngitis), Kelontae Gavin, Adia, Mervin Mayo, Jonathan Nelson, and Christian Pop star Blanca.

Then, on Tuesday the 7th, Tyscot‘s first family – The Scotts - were given the Jackie Patillo Leadership Award at the actual Dove Awards pre-telecast at Nashville First Baptist Church. It was the first time that the award was given to a family and not to an individual. Bishop Leonard Scott, who co-founded the label with his nephew Craig Tyson, was on hand as was Scott’s son Bryant who serves as the company’s President.

U.S. Murder Offenders by Race: 2023 FBI Data

Data on murders (homicides) committed by race in the United States primarily comes from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, which relies on reports from law enforcement agencies. The most recent detailed breakdown available is for 2023, but due to the FBI's transition to a new reporting system (NIBRS), not all agencies submitted complete data—only about 70-80% of the population was covered, so totals are undercounts. These figures represent known offenders (where race was identified), not arrests or convictions, and include single-offender and multi-offender incidents. In 2023, there were approximately 15,708 known murder offenders with identified race. Here's the breakdown: Race Number of Offenders Percentage of Known Offenders Rate per 100,000 Population White 8,842 56.3% 3.51 Black or African American 6,405 40.8% 14.00 Other (American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander) 461 2.9% 1.31 Notes on the...
