Dr. Ben Carson places campaign on hold after staffers involved in fatal wreck

buzzz worthy. . . Today Ben Carson suspended his campaign in Iowa to support staffers who were in a wreck in Iowa. All five people  in the van driven by a campaign staffer, including three children were hospitalized. The driver lost control of the vehicle on an icy  Hwy 83 near Atlantic Iowa, jumped the median and collided with a truck according to Iowa State Patrol . Braden Joplin, 25, a student volunteer from Texas Tech later died. The Republican presidential candidate said,  “I hope his death will not be in vain. He wanted America to be a kinder and a gentler place.” Carson 's campaign schedule was cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday. Skaciety (pronounced the way you'd pronounce society) formed three years ago when Aiden Lamb (Bass/Lead Vocals), Benjamin Davison (Trombone/Backing Vocals), Harry Whatrup (Trumpet/Backing Vocals) Logan Haddrell (Guitar) and Will Freed (Drums) met at school in Sittingbourne, Kent. Despite the fact the band are all still at school and college, they have played numerous gigs and festivals across the UK including appearances for the last two years at Blackpool's Rebellion Festival where songwriter and lead vocalist Aiden celebrated both his sixteenth and seventeenth birthdays. Having all been victims of bullying in the past, the band chose to speak out about the issue by supporting anti-bullying organisation The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Scholastic pulls "A Birthday Cake for George Washington" over claims of 'sensationalism'

Scholastic Book publishers has pulled "A Birthday Cake for George Washington" a story about the slave of the first US president making his birthday cake.  Critics say the book "sensationalizes" slavery.  On Sunday in a statement, the publisher said . . ." we believe that, without more historical background on the evils of slavery than this book for younger children can provide, the book may give a false impression of the reality of the lives of slaves and therefore should be withdrawn."  Th e book will be pulled off shelves and copies that were already purchased may be returned.
